Bowland Irish Draught Horses

Irish Draught horses have long been a part of life at Closes Hall farm, for over 20 years there have been Irish draughts on the farm alongside our dairy cattle and sheep. Starting out with one foundation mare ‘Nellie’s Version’ whom we sadly lost a few years ago, we slowly built up our stud. A highlight in the early days was breeding our own RID stallion “Bowland Bradley” whom stood with us at public stud for one season before we tragically lost him. We have always competed our horses wherever possible, we have taken part in British Dressage, British Showjumping and shown our horses successfully at county level, we particularly enjoy competing in the IDHS classes. Horses we have sold have competed successfully in all equestrian spheres, and provided great pleasure for their new owners. Horses we have bred have made superb family horses, happy hackers and competed to as high a level as the Horse of the Year show & the Royal International horse show. We have bred winners and champions of most county shows and a supreme champion at the annual Irish Draught Horse Society breed show. Our clients at the stud range from HRH the Queen to family friends, we treat all our clients individually and pride ourselves on our personal and friendly approach.
