Carriage Driving Lessons

Home  Carriage Driving Lessons

Chris Ainscough specialises in teaching carriage driving, particularly to beginners and newcomers to the sport.

No previous horse experience is required, and you are welcome to use our own experienced ponies and equipment for lessons, or if you have your own horse and carriage then bring them along too.

Chris teaches people who want to drive for pleasure as well as those who want to compete in horse driving trials; Chris is a very successful & experienced carriage driving competitor himself; to find out more visit the ‘Chris Ainscough’ page.

All lessons are tailored to your individual needs, and any disability is not a problem. Whether you just want to go for a gentle, relaxing drive out or go racing through obstacles & cones either are fine by us; equally we can coach you towards achieving competitive goals.

Groups and carriage driving taster sessions are available upon request.

The pictures below are from one of Chris’s young students, here’s what Sean has to say about his Driving tuition at Thompson House:

Within the space of 14 months Chris Ainscough has taught me and my cob, Amish, to drive competition style; and with Chris’s guidance has helped us to achieve Reserve Champion at the CHDTL outdoor driving events. We also took all the winning Rosettes after only competing in 4 out of the 7 events!
